On Friday, when the girls were playing in the backyard, Ellie (3) ran inside to tell me that there was a dinosaur on our back porch! Eeeek! I asked Ginger what Ellie meant – and, according to Ginger, there was a HUGE lizard. 🙂
I was helping Paprika with math at the time – so I said, “Oh, okay.” And that was that.
Well, about an hour later – Paprika was practicing piano when she ran past me to the kitchen to get some gloves and a kitchen pot. Apparently, the lizard was in our house, running around freely. (We live in Southern California, so this isn’t the first time this has happened.)
Paprika was very determined to capture the lizard, and her sisters were so excited to help her. They spent the next hour (or at least it felt like an hour) chasing this poor lizard around our house.
Here is a picture of them in action. Ellie was there, too – but she got hot and took off her dress, so I had to crop her out of the picture:
Once the lizard was captured, it was decided that we would take him/her to the park. That way he/she could live a good life – outside our home. 🙂
On our way to the park:
Except that en route to the park, Violet (6) started crying because she wanted to keep the lizard as a pet. She was worried if we left him at the park, we’d never see him again. So, I turned the van around to go home – which made Ellie cry because she was so excited to go to the park. I couldn’t win! Ha!
So, we came home and the girls made the lizard a home at the base of our avocado tree, and set him free! Now he lives in our backyard – and everyone’s happy. 🙂
