It’s back to life, back to reality after a beautiful, restful long weekend. Evan had five days off work (Wednesday-Sunday) – and it was blissful having him around. I put my computer away and didn’t touch it all weekend. Today, he’s back working on next season of The Bachelor (Arie Luyendyk, Jr.) Hopefully it’s a fun season and the hours are good to him. We shall see!
Last Tuesday was the Dancing With The Stars Finale. I took the girls to the show, which was no small feat getting them all ready and across town in time for the performance. We had some last minute wardrobe crises – but it all worked out in the end! Ha! Here we are after just arriving at The Grove.
Evan thought the show was at 5pm, so we arrived around 2:30. Well – it wasn’t until 6pm! So, we ended up hanging out in The Bungalow where Evan works for about three hours. The girls had a great time, and thankfully, most of the editing work for the show was finished, so it was very much a Finale party atmosphere. The girls (especially Paprika) feel so at-home backstage. Everybody knows them – even the host (Tom Bergeron) knows who they are and always makes a special point to say hi to them.
View from our seats:
When it was time for the show to start, Evan stayed backstage with Ellie (2) – since she’s a little young for the audience. I think you’re supposed to be twelve years old to be allowed in the audience, since it’s a live show and they don’t want shenanigans! Thankfully, they make an exception for our girls – and they are always very well behaved.
The audience warm up guy always gives out a few prizes to get the crowd excited. This time, he gave Ginger (8) and Violet (6) two Dancing With The Stars Barbie dolls. Violet was SO excited – you would have thought she won the lottery. 🙂
Violet wouldn’t let go of her doll for the entire show!
All in all, a great time was had by all! (Even if Paprika looks less than thrilled in this next picture – ha!) It’s always a fun time for the girls, and they love seeing where their dad works and being part of the whole shebang.
Afterwards, we realized we had two cars to drive home. Evan had parked right next to the stage, and since my feet were bleeding (new shoes!) – I took his car home while he hiked over to The Grove to get the van. Ginger, Violet, and Ellie were so excited to go to The Grove because there is an American Girl doll store there and a fancy chocolate store. So, we divided and conquered. I drove Paprika home, and after we made a pit stop (to change into comfortable clothes) – we went for an In ‘N Out date together.
It was a sweet ending to a perfect night – and the beginning of a great Thanksgiving Break. 🙂
