Ellie is now 17 months old! Our nicknames for her are:
Ellie Belly, Elle Belle, and Miss Jelly Belly.
We call her Miss Jelly Belly because she is very jealous when she sisters get attention from me (their mom) – and she’s still pretty chubby! Ha! It’s all said in love.
Miss Jelly Belly loves Daisy so much. She has such a huge love for all animals. Whenever we’re out and about, she squeals with delight when she sees a dog or a cat.
Needless to say, she adores Daisy most of all!
Ellie loves to kiss Daisy, pet her, talk to her, and feed her.
Ellie has learned to be very gentle with Daisy. She pets her softly and loves to give her kisses!
Ellie shares ALL her food with Daisy. This morning, it was Strawberry Yogurt Oh’s.
One for me, one for you!:
And, she LOVES to hug Daisy. Ellie is quite the hugger:
Ellie is learning how to walk. She can hold hands and walk – but only if she’s holding both hands. This was at the park on Friday. She took a little stroll with me and Mr. M both holding her hands. 🙂
I’ve always maintained that Ellie will walk independently around 18 months because she’s very cautious. She’s not an adventurous person at all (so far – that could change, of course!)
I remember when Violet (4) was this age – Violet regularly scaled Paprika and Ginger’s bunk bed with NO ladder. I literally had to take the bunk bed ladder and most of the furniture out of the house because Violet would climb to the top of everything and jump off.
I have a video of Violet at this age (17 months) scaling to the top of the bunk bed in her diaper and climbing down the side (supervised, of course). She was (and still is) fearless.
She would also climb up the kitchen cabinets to the top, open up the cabinet and get out the Nutella. She was back on the floor eating it by the time I came back from the next room. Remember?!
Violet at age 1:
Of course, not much has changed. This was Violet this morning tap dancing in my heels:
Ellie is very reserved – more like Paprika (9). Remember how Paprika refused to walk on grass or sand for years?! I’m having flashbacks. Haha.
This next picture was taken on Thursday of last week at the playground. I tried to get Ellie to go down the slide – but she was terrified of the play structure floor. It’s a plastic grate where you can see through the bottom.
She was looking at me like: Why did you put me on this torture device?!
Seconds after I took this picture, she started bawling. She was terrified!
But, it’s not like Ellie doesn’t know how to have fun. She does! She loves the swings. Especially when her sisters are pushing her:
She loves the little mini-trampoline we have in the backyard. She can get up on it – but she’s too scared to get down. 🙂
She loves to stand and watch everyone run and play:
She is a wickedly fast crawler. Ginger (7) loves to crawl around with her. Ginger adores Ellie (all the girls do) – but Ginger always pays a little extra special attention to her.
Ginger and Ellie have a very close relationship – even though they are 6 years apart in age!
This is Ellie’s favorite chair. It’s a Giraffe-style lawn chair we used to have outside in the backyard. Ellie instructed me to bring it inside (lots of pointing and grunting) – and so, I did.
Now, she sits happily in this chair and gets books read to her, as well as just hanging out, observing life. This chair is just her size!
Ellie is extremely observant. She points to everything – especially if she thinks it’s an animal. At the library, they have these fake seagulls hanging from the ceiling – and she’s obsessed with them. She couldn’t figure out why they weren’t flying around the library!
Ellie pointing out the seagulls:
For sleeping, she’s still held by me for all her naps! I usually try to sneak in my writing time while she naps (I stand at the computer, holding her). For quiet time, I set the older girls up with books to read or paper/crayons for drawing. It’s a nice break in the day for all of us.
So, that is life for Miss Ellie at 17 months! I can’t believe how funny and sweet, smart and lovable she is. It’s an exhausting time of life, for sure…and it’s one that I cherish, too.
She has me wrapped around her finger, and she knows it. 🙂 We love you, Miss Ellie Jelly Belly. 🙂
