This week has FLOWN by! Where has it gone, you ask?! We’ve been busy, and that’s really a balance for me. If we do too much, then I’m exhausted and Baby Ellie (8 months) misses her naps – which is not good for anybody. 🙂 But then if we don’t do enough, I start to go a little stir-crazy in the house, and that’s not so good either! Paprika (9), Ginger (6), and Violet (3) are happy no matter what we’re doing. I love that!
Here are a few things we’ve been up to this week. I’ll post more about some of these things in the coming days, because I really want to remember them in detail.
On Saturday, we went to Devon’s daughter’s 6th Birthday Party!
Mr. M had to work – so I took the kids by myself. I was so impressed with myself – Ha! It was a long drive – but we would go any distance for Devon and her girls! I think we would go to the Moon to see Devon and her kids…seriously. 🙂
Paprika and Miss Belle (both 9):
Ginger and The Birthday Girl (both 6!):
Ginger was so sad because she kept losing at Musical Chairs! The music would stop and she would let the other kids take their seats, and then she’d be so sad that she got out- she got out first every time! The good news is that she won Pin the Tail on the Donkey (it was actually Pin the Badge on the Dog from Paw Patrol – Ha!) So, she was much happier after that little victory. LOL
Violet (3) can hang with the big kids, and she also loves to play by herself:
All in all, a marvelous day and we were so happy we got to be there to celebrate with some of our favorite people on the Planet!
We visited the Aquarium of the Pacific this week:
They have an amazing jellyfish exhibit right now, so we’re studying that for our first Marine Life Science Unit study!
We mainly focused on interacting with the jellyfish at the Aquarium – and then of course, we also visited all the other marine life.
And we also got to feed the Lorikeets!
It’s one of those things – the birds LOVE Paprika (9) and flock to her. But they won’t give Ginger (6) the time of day! Not one will ever land on her, no matter how she holds her hand or how hard she tries! But Paprika will have them crawling all over her. Isn’t that interesting?!
Funny story – we’re members of the Aquarium of the Pacific and I thought our membership was good through the end of September. So, naturally, on September 30th, I wanted to go for the last day before it expired. Right?! Except we got there, and our membership had already expired. Wahhh wahhhh. So, now we’re members again for another year. Isn’t it lovely how that works? Ha!
Paprika started back with her Spanish Tutor via Skype. Her Spanish teacher lives in Guatemala, and Paprika LOVES her! We’ve been doing it for a year now so she’s got quite the rapport with her teacher. We took a little break over summer – and now we’re back! They were so happy to “see” one another again:
We had Homeschool Group Park Day this week! I set it up, and a bunch of families came. It was PERFECT – until the crowds of kids from the neighboring Elementary School and Junior High showed up! Then, it was a little Lord of the Flies! I am so happy we get to enjoy the parks when the other kids are at school – homeschooling perk, for sure!
The only picture I took at Park Day! 🙂
After it got crazy at the park, we moved the party over to my house. We had our dear friends over who were late to the Park Date, and the kids played until the sun went down! It worked out perfectly!
The “Middles” – Ginger (6) and Violet (3) are taking gymnastics 2 days/weeks now!
They LOVE it so much, I even bought them a balance beam (a low one) on Craigslist and a gymnastics mat on Amazon. Now, they can practice at home to their heart’s content!
While Violet and Ginger were flipping at gymnastics, I was with Ellie (8 months) and Paprika (9) in the lobby. We always manage to have a good time!
So, that’s a little bit of what we’ve been up to this week! I have a few more things to share, and I will be back in a bit to update! 🙂
