What a week it’s been! Bright and early Monday morning, enter site we got our copy of Harry Potter and The Cursed Child in the mail. We pre-ordered it back in December, and Paprika (especially) was so excited for the book’s release.
Right when it arrived , she ripped open the box and read the whole thing in one sitting! I remember when the original Harry Potter books came out, and you had to wait a year (or more) in between books. This is the first (and only) Harry Potter book like that for my kids. The book’s been passed around all week, and hopefully I’ll get to read it soon – if the kids will ever let go of it for long enough! Haha.
This week was the premiere of Bachelor In Paradise – and Mr. M edited the first (shocking) episode. He’s been working so hard on all the episodes – so I’m excited to watch the rest of the season. I can always tell the parts he edits and the parts he doesn’t because I know how he cuts! 🙂 We used to work together on The Bachelor back in 2003-2004, when I took a year off from Law School and I worked as an Assistant Editor on the show. Memories!!! 🙂
Now we do things like take four kids to Target on a weeknight! 🙂 Soooo glamorous – haha!
Really, though – it was fun. 🙂
Ginger was in good spirits on Monday…
And by Wednesday, she was sick. I think she picked up a virus at piano lessons. She is miserable. She’s been laying in bed reading, and watching the Winnie The Pooh movie (from 1977). It’s her favorite thing to watch when she’s sick.
Ellie (18 months) has become an avid reader. Just kidding. Really, she’s super interested in books and loves to look at the pictures. That’s how it starts!
One of my favorite things is watching the girls play with my toys from when I was a child. The yellow bumblebee in the picture was mine when I was a baby. 🙂 We have a bunch of toys that my Grandma sent us from my childhood, and the girls love them!
Ellie and the Bumblebee:
On Monday, we had piano lessons. Our block of lessons is right in the middle of the day – right when Ellie takes her nap! It’s miserable for her – and I wish we could change our time slot, but it’s all that’s available. Oh well, we only have a few more weeks until we go back to the Fall schedule and everything will change!
Violet (4) during her lesson:

After the piano lessons, I took the girls to the park. While we were there, I learned that Ellie (18 months) has developed an extreme dislike of sand. She also has an extreme dislike of water, which is kinda unusual, isn’t it?
Ellie is seriously horrified by water and if you so much put her toe in the bath, she will scream until she’s totally dry. What the heck?! Paprika wants to be a mermaid and Ellie can’t touch water. It’s amazing how different kids can be!
Ellie was happy in the swing at the park because her feet were not touching sand – thank goodness!:
One thing Ellie loves is playing the piano. She can play little songs and entertain herself all day:
She even claps for herself! She’s very pleased with her performance, as you can tell:
So, that’s this week so far! I know everyone else is thinking about Back to School now, and it still feels strange to be out of that loop, since we homeschool year-round. I’m losing track of how long we’ve been homeschooling and what grades the girls would be in if they were in regular school.
Let me think for a minute:
Paprika (9) would be going into either 4th or 5th Grade (her birthday could put her in either grade).
Ginger (7) would be going into 2nd Grade.
Violet (4) would be in Pre-K.
Ellie (18 months) is in Toddler grade. Haha.
And…this will be our 4th school year of homeschooling! Wowza. Time is flying!
You know what they say: Time flies when you’re having fun! 🙂
