What IS IT with my family and ducks?!
Do you remember when we found the newborn ducklings in our driveway…and we live nowhere near a pond?! Or then there was that time that we went to the park and the motherless ducklings thought I was the mama duck?
And it’s not just ducks! Who could forget Paprika and The Chicken?!
So, I should not have been the least bit surprised today when we went to the park and got mobbed by a raft of ducks. (I just looked it up – a group of ducks is called a Raft…who knew?!)
They were EVERYWHERE!
We were at the Wilderness Park minding our own business when out of nowhere dozens of ducks descended upon us! They wanted to be fed, and Violet wanted to feed them rocks – to which half the world probably heard me exclaiming: Noooooo!!!!
They were EVERYWHERE we turned.
They were hungry. And mad!
We were the only people in half a mile…and of course, I forgot to bring quarters for the duck food. Of course! 😉
We ended up running from the ducks – after one tried to snap off Violet’s hand, I threw her on my back in the Ergo and we high-tailed it out of that joint!
I had been thinking of raising chickens because I know Paprika would LOVE THAT (obviously!) – but now, I think I might have to wait on that. Ha!
I’m glad I got MY little ducklings out in one piece, and well…it’s just another poultry story to add to our memory books! 😉
