We had a great week in our homeschool this week. Here are the highlights!

All of the girls spent a lot of time making their own crafts and costumes. Here is Paprika’s “Halloween witch” costume she made out of construction paper and tape. This was one of...oh, eleventy billion creations she made that day. We were all cracking up as she put on a little show for us:
Paprika started at her Theatre Class – it meets once/week for three hours, and at the end they put on a big performance (Beauty and The Beast). She has been busy practicing – mostly in front of her stuffed animals. Every night when she goes to bed, she reads the script until I turn out the lights – it’s 150 pages (!!!) – so I think she’s getting some extra reading practice in there somewhere! 😉
So – this is not exactly academic – but HUGE for us in the life skills deparment: Paprika ASKED to try a sunny side up egg with whole grain toast this week – and then actually ATE it (well, part of it!)
This was HUGE because she’s never even tried an egg or a piece of bread before (besides a hamburger bun). She is a VERY picky eater – and we have tried so many things to get her to try new foods. So, this was a little victory.
Parents of picky eaters- take heart. At 7 years old, things are slowly starting to change! 🙂
Paprika started back at Swim Team for the Fall this week. They practice 4 days/week – and I am doing my best to get her to every practice…but…it falls RIGHT when Violet takes her ONE nap of the day!
So, I have been trying to get Violet to nap earlier- but she is resisting. It is a tough balance. I am going easy with myself and doing the best I can to be fair to everyone. I figure if we make it to swimming MOST days, then I will call it a victory! Ha!
This week we focused on Paprika memorizing her multiplication facts (she’s halfway there) – and she spent a lot of time reading, and writing (as usual!) She also practiced piano every day and she worked on learning Spanish!
go site Ginger:
Ginger (age 4) has been drawing up a storm. I love her drawings of people and butterflies.
Ginger has spent a lot of time this week practicing her reading! I need to test her, but I think she’s at end of Kindergarten level now. She is really taking off. We’re doing a combo of a bunch of things, which I’ll write about later. I am so glad it’s working – she is SO proud of herself!
Here is a drawing Ginger made called: Mama and Me! Notice we are wearing matching dresses! Ha!
We went to the park almost every day this week- three different ones. The first one was the has a botanical garden, which Ginger adored!
Ginger was MOSTLY agreeable on ALL of our park trips, but I had to laugh (inside) because yesterday at the Wilderness Park, she was a little feisty at first! See?!:
She recovered quickly, though! Ha!
Violet (age 1) – had a busy week! We went to the Cowboy themed birthday party up in Santa Barbara – and she had an awesome time. Here she is in her Get-Up!:
And the rest of the week, she gave me a run for my money! The only time she’s not climbing, jumping, tearing the house apart, and being a TODDLER is when she’s asleep!
So…now you see why I don’t want to wake her up to take Paprika to swimming?
I will never get tired of looking at this…never ever ever, never!
Have a Happy Weekend!!!
