This was the week that the time changed, and it started to get dark at 4:30 in the afternoon. I will never understand why silly old Daylight Savings Time is still around (don’t tell me about the farmers)! It should be changed so that it gets dark an hour earlier in the summer – you know, when it’s light until 10pm – and change it so we get an extra hour of daylight in the winter…when we need it! A year-round sunset of 7:30pm sounds just about right to me. 😉
Anyhoo- on Sunday, we went to the old school and played in the afternoon. Mr. M was working – so it was just us girls! 🙂
When we got home, we did our first ever Skype Call with Grammy and Great-Grandma Mimi (my grandma!) – the next day was my mom’s birthday, so it was wonderful that we got to chat a little bit!
Sunday night, Daisy busted into the Halloween candy and ingested about 2 full pounds of chocolate. We had it in a kitchen cabinet (which I assumed was safe!) – but she used that long nose to open the cabinet and then she carried the bag into another room where I wouldn’t find her! OMG!
Luckily, I found her within a few minutes, and I was able to induce vomiting – this was NOT the first time this has happened – (REMEMBER?! How could I forget?!!!).
Mr. M was at work, so I had the lovely task of doing this by myself, 7 months pregnant with 3 kids watching! 🙂 Motherhood!
I am so glad that I did it, though, because she had eaten WAY more than I originally thought, and many of the chocolate bars were still in the wrapper. I put her in the tub and went through the whole process with her – and then, the joys of clean-up afterwards were all mine to relish! Haha.
On Monday, we stayed home because the gardeners were here – and I am the foreman of this project, so I have to be here to make sure things are running smoothly!
We put away summer clothes and brought out the…Christmas clothes! Just a tad early, but oh well! 🙂
The girls did A LOT of drawing and story writing. Paprika (8) illustrated a 40 page book – it’s amazing – it has no words, only pictures – and when she tells the story, it is the SAME way every time. I have heard the story a few times now – haha!
Ginger (5) drew probably a hundred drawings on Monday and this was one of my faves – it’s her interpretation of Elsa and Anna from Frozen:
Tuesday was Mr. M’s one day home from work – we haven’t seen him at all otherwise! He has been working a lot on Dancing With The Stars this season!
I had my 27/28 week OB appointment – and had the Glucose Tolerance Test (GTT). Basically, it measures whether or not you have gestational diabetes.
In the past, I have always failed the test – and now that I am Advanced Maternal Age (love that!) – I passed the test for the first time ever!
But the drink for the test (plus driving myself through 1 1/2 hours of rush hour traffic EACH WAY to get to the appointment) made me really sick for the rest of the day.
Mr. M took the girls out on some adventures, and then Ginger (5) was ready to come home. So, he took Paprika (8) and Violet (2) out to dinner at Islands, while I stayed home with Ginger.
While they were out, Ginger and I laid in bed and watched Dumbo together! We even made air popped poprcorn with extra butter. Ahhh – it was perfect!
We stayed home – I was still recovering from the GTT the day before AND well…doing more work on the backyard. It’s still got a long way to go – here are some sneak peeks:
On Thursday morning, I did some placement tests for the girls to see how they are progressing with homeschooling. I have been thinking of switching up their curriculum and wanted to see how they placed with various programs. I gave them a few tests each, just to see if the placement tests would be consistent…and they were! Paprika (8) tested into 7th/8th grade for reading and 6th grade for math. I only tested Ginger (5) on reading, and she was 6th grade!
So, after that, we took the rest of the day off and went to the beach! LOL. It was such a beautiful day – so we had Recess, Gym, and Science at the beach! Ha! We stayed until sunset…
Here are a few pics:
The (almost) birthday girl and the 27 week (plus four days) baby bump:
The big girls playing in the sand – they made sandcastles for hours!
Paprika could have stayed forever! She is my little mermaid, still to this day!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
