Happy Tuesday! As you may recall, last year I wrote about Violet (then 3) and her LOVE for the boy next door. She didn’t know his name, so she called him: My Handsome.
We found out his name is Matthew. He is almost 4 years old.
I sometimes call him: My Shoe (because that’s how she says Matthew).
She still loves him so much. She writes him notes and leaves him presents on his front porch for him to find later.
Here is one of the letters she wrote this week She also gave him one of our Hot Wheels toy cars. Her letter says:
Roses are red
Violets are Blue
Sugar is sweet
And I love you!
Love, Secret Girl
(Ginger – age 7 – helped her with the spelling!)
On 4th of July, she told me that was their anniversary because that was the day they met last year. 🙂 I’m guessing she has spoken to him maybe twice in her life?!
This is another note that she wrote this week. She put another Hot Wheel toy car inside and taped it up, so I couldn’t take a picture of the inside. It said:
I hope you like your present.
I love you.
Love, Secret Girl
P.S. I really love you.
Where did this girl come from?! She is so hilarious and completely her own person. Her big sisters were not like this at all at this age. How can they each be so different and yet so wonderful?
Miss Ellie Belly (17 months) is NOT Boy-Crazy…she’s Dog-Crazy. Poor Daisy. Ellie follows Daisy around like a little puppy.
Daisy is the best pillow and the best friend a girl could ask for!
Ellie loves all animals. When we go on our walks, she gets so excited whenever she sees a dog, cat, bird, etc. She even gets excited when she sees a butterfly!
Ginger (7) is almost ready to lose her first two bottom teeth. They are so wiggly! And good thing, because her adult teeth are growing in. This is called “Shark Teeth” – and it’s totally normal. But, it still freaked me out when I saw it the first time. Ha!
We went to the Long Beach Aquarium! It was really crowded, and Ginger couldn’t handle being inside the Aquarium. She started to have a panic attack because of the crowds and the enclosed space – so I took her and Ellie outside to look at the boats in the harbor while Mr. M stayed in the Aquarium with Violet (4) and Paprika (9).
Here she is in front of The Queen Mary. For the longest time, the girls thought this boat was The Titanic! Haha.
Ellie was so happy in the stroller checking out the boats and the ocean. I have pinched nerves in both my shoulders – so carrying Ellie in the Ergo is a little painful lately. So, she’s getting some stroller time. The good news is that she loves going for a ride in the stroller – and she’s very happy (as long as we’re moving)!
Ellie hanging out at the Aquarium. This was Paprika’s outfit when she was a baby. Seeing Ellie in it brings back memories!:
When we got home, Paprika took her baby hat out of her Time Capsule and let Ellie wear it around the house.
This is Paprika in the same hat in 2006:

How quickly time goes. Paprika turns TEN next month! This past week (July 12th) would have been Vivian and Annemarie’s 8th Birthday. I’m taking time to enjoy each phase as it passes because I know how precious time is. It’s a gift I never take for granted…
