We had a fun, relaxing 4th of July weekend! We stayed home, Mr. M made his “famous ribs” – and Ginger (6) and Paprika (8) learned how to ride bikes! Their bikes were buried at the back of the garage – and I’ve been working hard on decluttering and organizing via the KonMari Method.
We all decided that the bikes “spark joy” – so we got them out, and the girls are learning to ride! Mr. M supervised them as they rode around the block, and I took Violet (3) and Ellie (5 months) for their own little walk.
When we came home, I got out the bouncy castle for a day of fun! Thanks to my decluttering, I found the pump. Yay!
The girls played happily for hours inside the bouncy castle – even Paprika (8)! I remember when we bought this for their Christmas present (back in 2010)! How many fun afternoons they’ve had – so much joy:
Ellie hung out in the backyard and watched her sisters bounce! I know she wanted to hop right in there with them.
After watching all that bouncing, she was exhausted and ready for a nap! I love relaxed afternoons when I can hold her in bed for a long nap. She naps a lot in the Ergo (with me standing), so it’s a wonderful treat to get to sit down and hold her while she sleeps. The best!
Once it got dark, we headed back outside to light off fireworks. We are really lucky in our new neighborhood because we can light off small fireworks, and there are tons of fireworks displays (professional, it seemed!) going on around us!
From our street, we could see amazing fireworks just a block or two away. I had the hose at the ready – and was maybe a little nervous about all the fireworks – especially because California is in a major drought and so everything is a little like a tinder box.
But…I put that aside enough to relax and have fun. Paprika loved the sparklers! Ginger was not so sure about them, but eventually got up her bravery and ended up loving them.
Violet (3) did not want anything to do with sparklers. Instead, she loved watching the fireworks in the sky from our neighbors. There was a lot of Ooooh’ing and Ahhhh’ing right from our driveway! Ellie lay nestled in the Ergo, and took it all in! What a fun 4th of July – relaxing and at home, just how I like it. 🙂
