(Snapshot taken last night by Paprika, age 8)
Baby Bear is 2 1/2 weeks old now! Mr. M is back to work part-time for the next few weeks until he starts back full-time on Dancing With The Stars at the end of February. It was awesome having him home – it’s just that someone has to work to keep the lights on around here. I’m very grateful he’s doing that and I can stay home. I just miss him! 🙂
Having him back at work has been a HUGE adjustment for me. Yesterday was the first day back – and it was hard. Just keepin’ it real.
It’s so funny because before Baby Bear came along, I thought three children was challenging. And now if I just had the three older ones to take care of I would be like: piece of cake! Haha. I know that’s how it goes every time and people with 5 or 6 or more kids would think 4 kids is easy…
And they are easy one at a time! It’s just when they all need something all at once. Ha!
But they are SO worth it!
Overall, no complaints! I am still recovering physically – and that’s a big part of it, I know. Little Miss has pretty bad reflux and is in agony for a few hours/night – which I am attributing to a dairy intolerance. I am not sure that’s what it is yet – but she is nursing around the clock, and I love to eat ice cream (also, around the clock).
I am hoping that if I cut out ice cream (waaaaah!) that it will help her feel better. I went through the same thing with Ginger and Violet so I imagine that’s how it will be for this baby, too!
Today is the first day we’re trying that – so fingers crossed! 🙂
Ginger last night holding her baby sister. So sweet!:
I swear, this little one is the BEST baby – I mean, they all are – you know what I mean. She is worth every sleepless night and tired morning. 🙂 We are all head over heels, smitten with her. Can you tell?!
In addition to having a newborn, homeschooling, and Mr. M returning to work – we are also in the middle of remodeling our townhouse in Pasadena! Eeek! Mr. M has been making lots of trips up there to paint, re-floor, etc.
It’s been about 30 years since anyone did anything to this place – so I guess it’s time. We are hiring some stuff out because we have to – it’s just too much to deal with otherwise. But Mr. M is also doing some of it himself, and when he’s up there, I am home alone with all the kids. It’s kind of like a second job for him at this point – and for me, too! Haha.
We are hoping to do it all fairly quickly so we can get rent it out again soon. Tick tock!
Remember this place? Memories!!!
Okay, so enough about all that stuff!
Before Mr. M headed to work yesterday, he took the three older girls to the Aquarium of the Pacific for the day. Since it was a weekday, they pretty much had the whole place to themselves!
Ginger loved interacting with the divers. I later asked her if she wanted to be a diver when she grows up and she said no – she wants to be a veterinarian, a chef, a doctor, and a mother…(of course!) Ha!
Even so, the divers were pretty cool!
They went to the sea lion and seal show – and also watched them in the underwater tanks:
I think Violet (3) wanted to jump right in to the big tanks!
Paprika (8) learning about soil erosion and conservation:
These three have the best times together:
Playing outside in the playground area:
Feeding the lorikeets is always a big hit!
So, that’s what we’re up to here! We have been having lots of fun times with the girls – and also dealing with all the real life stuff that goes on behind the scenes to make it all happen. Even though we are really busy, I am also taking time to savor these newborn days – and take time to rest and bond with our little baby bear as much as possible. It’s a balance, for sure!
This is my view right now as I type this. It doesn’t get any better than this! 🙂
