Miss Ellie Belly is 19 months old now! She’s at such a fun age (I really mean that). Everything in her life is BIG – it’s either huge smiles or dramatic tears. No in-between. 🙂
Thankfully, she is a very happy, sweet baby 99% of the time. One of her favorite things to do is ride around the neighborhood in her car. I usually walk with her for at least an hour/day. Not so much now because of my broken toe. But that’s slowly getting better and she loves riding in the car so much, I’ll deal with the pain of walking!
Ellie is obsessed with wearing this helmet when she rides in the car. It’s because she watches her sisters riding bikes, and she wants to be just like them!
She is still nursing a lot – but she also LOVES food. That’s one of the ways she got her nickname: Jelly Belly. She discovered peanut butter this week, and that’s been fun! Ha! So messy…
She’s good at sharing her food, especially with Daisy! If I’m not right there, she’ll feed Daisy everything off her plate. Today it was ice cream.
Ellie took a bite, then gave Daisy a bite…and repeat! Daisy was so patient, and just waited for Ellie to feed her the next spoonful.
Instead of scolding them, I took a video – and I think I’ll cherish it for the rest of my life. It was that cute. Here’s a photo:
They really are best friends. Ellie loves all animals – and she adores Daisy:
Last week, I braved the beach with all the girls by myself. Ellie was my constant sidekick. She still doesn’t like sand or water – so that made the beach an interesting experience! Haha.
Mostly, I just carried her around and we watched the waves together. She was pretty happy, as long as there wasn’t any dreaded sand or saltwater touching her skin! 🙂
Ellie loves it when we read to her. And she will look through books all the time, even when we’re not reading to her. As you can see in the next picture, she’ll even read books upside down! Haha.
She loves the book Baby Faces (it’s a board book) and she does all the expressions in the book as we read the text. It’s so cute! Even though Ellie’s not talking a whole lot yet – she understands everything. I forget that sometimes – but whenever I tell her to go do something – even if it’s complex, she will go do it! It’s amazing.
Sometimes, I’ll be busy doing something, so I’ll say: Ellie, go get the Frog and Toad book and ask Violet to read it to you.
The next thing I know, she’s got the book and she’s curled up next to Violet (4):
Ellie’s still holding onto her naps – just a short one in the late afternoon. I hold her for her naps while the sisters read books quietly. It works out really well as a break in our day for all of us. On the days she skips her nap, we all feel it. She’s not happy when she’s tired. (Who is?! Ha!)
This was her during a nap this past week (I was holding her)… If I put her down, she wakes up immediately. It’s crazy how she knows! I think she can’t nap without listening to my heartbeat.
Ellie loves her baby dolls. She carries them around and hugs them. She found this tiny Ergo carrier in the toy box and insisted I put it on her so she could carry her baby.
This is HER baby – and heaven forbid if one of her older sisters tries to hold this baby. Even though Ellie isn’t talking much, she knows how to get her point across. She’s a very protective little mommy:
That’s a slice of life here at 19 months with “Baby” Ellie. I love seeing her personality emerge, and getting to know her unique spirit. She lights up our lives, and we are so very grateful for her. We love her so!
