Hey Big Baby!

August 14, 2015 by

Baby Ellie is 6 months old now. She weighs almost 25 pounds, and she is 29 inches long. She is a BIG baby! She’s so far off the charts, I have to put my finger on a different piece of paper to track her growth. Ha! I remember the other girls at this age rolling over a lot, sitting up, and trying to crawl. Ellie can roll over from her back to her tummy – and that’s about it! LOL She gets on her tummy and she gets so frustrated after a few minutes. She can’t sit up and definitely is not anywhere near crawling. I know she will do those things in her own time – and because of her size, it makes it harder for her to get around, for sure!...

Weekly Wrap-Up: Decluttering!

October 24, 2014 by

I can’t believe it’s Friday! What a week! Our landscapers were here ALL week (they are almost done!) – so I stayed home quite a bit because I wanted to be here in case they had any questions.  I was running back and forth between the landscapers and the kids – it was crazy! It was also a little frustrating because the gardeners were here all day long – and by the time they left, it was dark most nights. So – we spent a lot of time inside the house and we couldn’t go outside.  Now that the backyard is seeded and fertilized (as of today!) – we still can’t go outside to play because we need to wait for the grass to grow! I am having a few trees planted – this one is a...

90 Years of Stuff!

May 16, 2014 by

It has been HOT! It’s been almost 100 degrees most days this week – we’ve been trying to stay cool indoors for most of the day, and since we don’t have air conditioning – it is tough to stay cool! Our area is close to the ocean, so most people don’t have air conditioning – this week I was wishing we had it! It was too hot to even go to the beach with the girls – they would not have done well on scorching sand! But by 6 o’clock, the weather will cool down to about 85 degrees – which means it’s cool enough to go to the park. Here we are yesterday at the park – the girls had so much fun. We were there until almost 8 – sundown!    ...

It’s All Just Stuff

September 4, 2013 by

This morning, I was planning on writing about how to teach your child Computer Programming when you know nothing of the subject yourself. (It’s what’s going on in our house at the moment, ahem!) Instead, I wanted to talk about a little thing that happened in our house 12 hours ago. Violet – this beautiful little troublemaker – decided to throw my cellphone into the bath with her last night…and well, I lost ALL the pictures on my phone. Four thousand or so. Not backed up photos. Gone forever.     My phone is GONE. All my contacts, texts, notes, and the fifty million other things stored on my phone.  (Geez, when did the phone become command central of my life?) Now,  I am not someone who is GLUED to my phone. Technology...

Breaking Up With Toys!

August 30, 2013 by

(Originally published October 2012)   I spent a good part of the weekend decluttering. When you have three kids underfoot and none of them nap, it makes decluttering a whole sport unto itself. I would put the kids in one area to play, and go clean/declutter a different area…only to have them become so interested in what I was doing that they would start un-doing all my “decluttering” work. It was chaos…not organized chaos, just chaos! Haha!   This year has been quite transformative for me in many ways – I know I don’t go into it much on this blog, but I have been undergoing so many spiritual changes this past year. I am open to changing and growing, and it’s just been a great year for letting go of so...

A Funny Thing Happened When I Got Rid of My Kids’ Toys!...

August 30, 2013 by

(This post was originally published in November 2012.)       You may recall that about a month ago, I put away almost all of the girls’ toys. They have been stored in the garage for a month now, and the girls have not asked for them back! My house has been so much easier to pick up every day, and we’re not tripping over toys all the time. It is awesome. The funny thing is that even without the toys, the girls have been playing more than ever. It kind of reminds me of in How The Grinch Stole Christmas, when the Grinch stole all the toys and Christmas came anyway:   The Grinch HADN’T stopped Christmas from coming! IT CAME! Somehow or other, it came just the same!   Not that...

Happy Days!

May 31, 2013 by

It’s been an exquisite week full of happy days.  Last weekend we went to Paula’s and went swimming – so much fun!  I have pics on my real camera but have not had a chance to upload them yet (story of my life!)  Instead, these are all cell phone pics from this past week – which upload like magic to the computer!  Easy peasy! I never tire of watching Violet sleep.  I wonder if one day she’ll think it’s weird that I took seventy billion pictures of her sleeping?  Wish I could bottle it up – and even seventy billion pictures can’t do that!  But I’ll keep trying!  😉 Mr. M and I have been clearing out the clutter!  It’s been a huge effort on both our parts to do all the little things around...

Why I’m Not Shopping Black Friday!...

Living Like a French Painting!

August 20, 2012 by

There are two things you should know. The first is that I have been on a massive decluttering campaign over the last week and a half. One of the great things about living in a teeny house is that we get to live with only what we truly love and need. There is just no room for extraneous stuff (and clutter!) Last week I edited the girls’ toys and donated about half of their toys. Clothes not being worn are in storage, waiting for Violet’s turn or donation. It hasn’t been just kid stuff, of course. I have been evaluating everything that we own, and if it’s not earning its place in our home, it has gone bye-bye. What a liberating feeling it is. So, you would think that with half the toys rehomed,...

What Is Worth Saving

February 26, 2011 by

I have a bunch of pictures from this week to upload to my computer. We’ve been busy…the good kind of busy, and I have photos forthcoming to prove it! 😉 These photos I found kicking around and I realized I hadn’t posted them. They are from a month or so ago…a trip to the park to feed the ducks and sleep in trees! The weather has all of a sudden turned rainy again- those bright days of sunshine from earlier this week are gone. It is pouring buckets! I had to get out of the house today for a little bit. Mr. Mustard had a guy’s night planned tonight (Laker’s Game!), so I slipped out for an hour by myself this afternoon for some “me” time. I don’t get to do that very often,...
