We had ourselves a mellow little weekend here. Mr. M had to work on DWTS (I feel like a broken record every time I say that – haha). So it was just us girls.
On Saturday, we made plans to go over to a friend’s house for dinner, playdate, and movie! I somehow mixed up the time in my head – and we got to our friends’ house over an hour early – while they were still playing their hockey game. They were not even home! Doh!
So, I drove the girls over to the local park – and let them have fun on the playground and climbing the trees!
All they really wanted to do was climb the trees, of course – and not play at all on the playground!
This is Ginger’s happy place:
The girls had so much fun swinging from the branches. After I took these pictures, a park employee told the girls to not climb (or touch!) the trees!
Well, I never…
I just didn’t even know what to say. If a child is not allowed to climb a tree, then what does that say about our society?
Thankfully, we were on our way out so I didn’t make a fuss. We’ll just have to stick to our own neighborhood park for tree climbing. There are so few employees at our park that nobody tells us not to climb the trees! Ha!
Violet (3) and Ginger (6) – posing for a picture – Ha!:
This is how they really are:
After our park interlude, we spent a wonderful evening at our friends’ house! The kids mostly played dress-up and ran around for five hours, active in their imaginations! I was able to snap this one picture while Ellie (8 months) slept in the Ergo. I think I’ll cherish this picture for a long time:
Violet (3) is always asking me how to spell everything, and she’s started writing me notes and drawing me pictures on her own. I found this little note and picture as a surprise!
The little note in the upper left hand corner says: I love mom. (I know it’s hard to read – but I read 3 year old very well. Plus, it’s what she told me it says. Ha!)
Then, there’s a picture of hearts with a Queen of Hearts on the left.
On Saturday, Paprika (9) finished 6th Grade Math! She was so excited because it means she’ll for sure be getting to wear her Peacock Costume for Halloween. She gets one day off and then starts 7th Grade on Monday. 🙂
She said for her reward for completing 7th Grade Math (her next project), she wants to go on a date just the two of us to Barnes and Noble and eat a cookie in the cafe and read books together in the stacks. I said – Yes, Please! 🙂
This is just Violet (3) climbing the walls, like she always does. She scales to the top of the doorway, touches the top, then jumps down onto the floor. Over and over again!
Ellie was having a tough weekend because she is getting FIVE teeth in – Oh my word. She’s a great sport, though. We did a little photoshoot of her on Friday in her Halloween Costume (purchased used on Ebay, of course!)
I have about a million pictures – but this one sums it up best. She is constantly chewing on her hands right now because…the teeth!
Ellie is SO smart – oh my goodness. I can’t wait until she’s talking because she is going to have so much to tell me. She’s already working on her words, and she is so excited about the world around her. She laughs non-stop at her sisters, belly-busting giggles that don’t quit. She thinks everything is funny! Unless a stranger talks to her like she’s a baby, and then she gives them the stink-eye, like…who are you calling baby?
I just love her to pieces! Can you tell?! 🙂
