Last week on Mr. M’s day off work (Tuesday) – we went to The Aquarium of the Pacific for the day! Warning – this post is picture overload (I know!) It’s just such a beautiful place – and we hadn’t been back since the Fall, so I took a lot of pictures.
Sidenote: If I’m not posting and you want to see pictures, check out my Flickr page. I always upload pictures there first for the blog – and I usually have A LOT more pictures there than here. I didn’t even think about it until my mom said she checks it for new photos. Good to know! I’ve posted over 48,000 pictures to Flickr in the past few years. How crazy is that? I have to do the math and figure out how many pictures I take in a day. Maybe I don’t want to know! Haha.
Anyway, back to The Aquarium! The moon jellies are always a favorite:
Doesn’t Paprika (9) look like she wants to dive in? She wants to live under the sea, with all her heart:
Me and Elle Belle (14 months) outside the shark tank:
The Sea Lions – We LOVE them!:
The girls spent so much time with the sea lions this trip. The “sea dogs” were basically playing with the girls. They would come down and rub up against the glass and do tricks around them:
Violet (4) was especially smitten with the Sea Lions:
The big girls learning about the difference between Steelhead fish and Rainbow Trout…and how fish use their sense of smell to find their way home!:
The lorikeets are always a huge hit! They always flock to Paprika:
And, of course – the person they love most is Mr. M! Haha. I don’t know why it is, but they always want to climb all over him. 🙂
It used to be that the birds wouldn’t go near Ginger (6) – but now she was able to feed a few!
She was so happy about that!
We saw Penguins:
Learned about all different kinds of whales:
Saw this crazy looking Japanese Crab! He was enormous – the picture doesn’t do it justice at all…
We found Nemo: 🙂
Amazing shark baby – inside the sac! I love how you can see it growing and swimming inside:
Egg Yolk Jellyfish:
And the girls’ favorite sea creature: The divers who clean the tank!!! Haha.
Violet (4) kept asking: When are we going to see a Mermaid? Where is Mermaid Linden?! 🙂
Nope, not in this tank!
Or in this cool Jelllyfish tank:
Violet talking to the stingrays:
He was REALLY friendly – and I think he freaked her out a little. 🙂
But, she recovered nicely when I took her over the penguins!
Then, we went for a walk around the Long Beach Harbor. This is the Queen Mary ship – which Paprika used to think was The Titanic for the longest time! 🙂
And while we were walking around, Paprika asked me to take her “Author Photo” for the book series she’s writing! I can’t wait to read it…
