I’ve been exhausting myself writing, writing, writing. I’ve finished the first three chapter books in my Mystery series aimed at Middle Grade readers. The series will appeal to readers of Magic Tree House books and Nancy Drew and the Clue Crew Mysteries. I have a few beta readers right here at home who’ve been giving me their awesome feedback! 🙂
Now, I just have to get my books published! Easier said than done. I sent a few queries out to my dream literary agents, so fingers crossed one of them will fall in love with my characters. I think they’re pretty loveable, but I know I’m biased.
If knocking down the literary agent door doesn’t work, I may consider self-publishing. The self-publishing market for Middle Grade is very difficult – but you never know, right?
This weekend, Mr. M helped me a lot with the kids so I could work on polishing up my manuscripts before I sent them out. I know it might be hard to believe, but writing five novels (as I’ve done since July) with four small children and homeschooling is no walk in the park.
He took Paprika (9), Ginger (6) and Violet (4) on all sorts of adventures this weekend. They went to the library, to the mall, out to dinner at Islands, and even to The Bachelor offices in Santa Monica. It’s always fun for the girls to go to work with Daddy. And it’s especially fun on a Sunday when they can run around with nobody else there.
I stayed home with Baby Ellie, who has been nursing a cold. Fingers crossed everybody feels better this upcoming week. We’ve been fighting sickness since November – I’m not complaining because I know it could be worse. I’m just tired of seeing my babies sniffly.
Anyhoo – I had a very productive weekend writing. I am going to let my Mystery Series rest a bit while I wait to hear back from agents. In the meantime, I’m researching my next plan of attack, and writing my next novel. It’s always good to be writing. 🙂
