I took the girls to the beach today! Last time I took them by myself, it was a disaster! That was the day that it was 100 degrees and the sand burned our feet – and then a giant wave crashed into us all when I was trying to take a picture.
I told myself I was never taking them to the beach again – but almost a month to the day later, we were back! I guess you can’t keep us away for long. 🙂
This time I was much better prepared and set us up for success (or maybe I just got lucky). I took the sister picture FAR from the tide line. No chance of a wave crashing into us here!
It was Violet’s idea to go to the beach today – and it was a great one. It was 70 degrees – cloudless, and perfect weather. Also, we were the only ones on the beach. The ONLY ones!
I carried Ellie (9 months) pretty much the whole trip, except when I sat her in the sand for the Sister Picture. She was like: What is this wet sand?! Eeek!
The girls ran up and down the beach, playing the day away. I am SO grateful for days like this. As homeschoolers, it’s a wonderful gift to be able to have the whole beach to ourselves on a “school day.”
Today was the 15 year Anniversary of my First Date with Mr. M! 🙂 Paprika (age 9) surprised me with this little drawing in the sand (our initials). How sweet is that?!
Ginger and Paprika played together for hours out in the water. The girls collected shells, rocks, and driftwood to bring home for their nature collection.
Ellie fell asleep in the Ergo, lulled by the sound of the waves.
My view of her sleeping:
Violet danced up and down the beach, having the time of her life. She kept saying it was: The Best Day Ever! (She always says that!) 🙂
And then, as the sun was setting, it was time to head home! Here is a little portrait of our shadows. I am the one carrying the big bag with all the shells, rocks, and driftwood – haha! (And Ellie in the Ergo, of course!)
I’m so grateful for days like this – and for Violet asking to go to the beach, when it would have been easier to stay home. 🙂 Some days surprise you with their magic – and today was one of those days… -Erika
