While we were in Indiana, we visited the Indianapolis Children’s Museum (the largest Children’s Museum in the world) – twice! We decided to become members, since our membership will last until the end of June 2017, so hopefully we can go a few times when we visit Indiana next year. 🙂
On the first visit to the museum, Mr. M, my dad, and my brother Robbie took the girls for the day so that I could go out to lunch with my friend, Ann! That was a rare treat for me. This is us at the restaurant we used to go to ALL the time back in the day (Bazbeaux’s). The restaurant’s changed a lot – but we’ve stayed the same. Haha.
So – I don’t have any photos from the first trip to the museum (because Mr. M has them on his phone) – but, I was most definitely there for the second trip to the Children’s Museum.
We went on a VERY rainy, stormy day – our last day in Indiana, on the way to the airport! It ended up being a crazy, nightmare flight home (more on that later) – but we had a great day at the museum and stayed until it closed.
One of the best parts of the Indianapolis Children’s Museum is the incredible dinosaur exhibit!
Because we were the LAST people in the museum (literally) – we got to talk at length to the paleontologists and the interns in the dinosaur department. They let us touch some REAL dinosaur bones – wow!
Then we got to talking to the paleontologists about how we were visiting from Los Angeles (etc.) – and the head paleontologist gave Paprika, Ginger, and Violet each their very own real dinosaur bone! She even packaged them up for us in ziplock bags.
Violet and Paprika got a Triceratops vertabrae, and Ginger got a Duckbill dinosaur (Hadrosaurid) bone piece to keep. The paleontologist gave us her email and phone number – and was overly nice and amazing. It was unreal. I felt like – “Am I on a hidden camera or something???”
I guess that’s Hoosier Hospitality for you – it was definitely an experience we’ll always remember fondly!
Baby Ellie (16 months) had a great time at the museum, too! I remember that we took Paprika here on her First Birthday – the actual day of her birthday! 🙂 That was almost 9 years ago – feels like yesterday, though!
Here is the post from that visit, if you want to take a peek down memory lane. 🙂
P.S. I am getting ready to publish my 3rd book in the LOL Detective Series – and I’ll have a new post up about that soon! 🙂
