On Tuesday, we went to Disneyland for the day! Mr. M was off work, so we were able to go as a family. Yay!
Originally I had planned to go to Disneyland while some friends were in town – but Mr. M had to work and life (my gallbladder!) got in the way. We decided it was just too much at this point for me to take all four kids by myself to D-Land. Sometimes you just have to know your limits, I guess! So, even though our friends weren’t there on this day – we decided to make a day trip ourselves for a little family bonding time! 🙂
On the tram:
Visiting the bricks outside the gate – Vivian and Annemarie, and Blake and Ethan (Devon’s twin boys):
We headed over to California Adventure Park first – since that’s where Anna and Elsa live now.
We made a beeline to their house, but the Frozen experiences were all booked up for the whole rest of the day! C’est la vie.
Thankfully, Sophia the First showed up right then, and Violet (3) about leapt out of her skin. She is crazy about Sophia the First – this made her whole day. Maybe her whole year! 😉
Then we moseyed over to Ariel’s Carousel and took a few spins. Next, we did the big Ariel ride a few times since there was no line. Violet’s favorite princesses are Ariel and Sophia, so it was a GOOD day to be Violet.
It was pretty crowded at California Adventure, so we headed over to Disneyland – which was like a Ghost Town! Right when we walked in Snow White was there to greet us. She’s Paprika’s favorite princess. Score!
Paprika really wanted to ride Space Mountain – but the other girls are too little. Daddy usually rides this one with Paprika – I had never even been on it! So – I went with Paprika while Mr. M took the littles on Winnie The Pooh and Pirates of the Caribbean. This is the picture of me and Paprika on the ride – haha:
So, meanwhile – Mr. M had Ginger (5), Violet (3) and Ellie (3 months) all to himself. What a handful, right?
Ginger REALLY wanted to ride Pirates of the Caribbean – so Mr. M took all three of the littles on the ride. About ten seconds into the ride, Ellie got terrified by the darkness and started screaming her newborn scream (with no mommy to comfort her)! That made Violet scared, so she started crying at the top of her lungs. The lady behind them tried to comfort Violet – which scared Ginger and she started crying.
They were trapped on a boat with about 20 other random people – who I am sure were not excited about three crying kids! Thankfully, once the lights came on in the ride (all the creepy skeletons, etc.) – Ellie was so interested in what she was seeing that she calmed right down and that quieted down Ginger and Violet, too.
All’s well that ends well – but I don’t think Mr. M is going to be taking the girls on Pirates again! 🙂
Next up we met over at Alice In Wonderland to ride together:
Then we split up again because Ginger and Paprika wanted to ride Star Tours – and Violet is too scared to go on it. So – I took Ellie and Violet on It’s A Small World twice! The first time we went on it, I had a gallbladder attack – and it was kind of scary. Thankfully, we were sitting in the boat and the girls were happy – so everything was fine.
After that, I took Violet (and Ellie) to get popcorn and feed the ducks. Ellie was asleep in the carrier – so it was basically just me and Violet together. Violet loved our special one on one time. It kind of reminded me of when Paprika was this age and Ginger was asleep in the Ergo. It’s amazing how much easier two babies feels now than it did back then. Perspective!
Then we all met back up to ride more rides – the Carousel, of course!:
Mr. M took Ginger, Violet, and Paprika on Teacups while I sat that one out with Ellie!
We stayed until the park closed (of course) – and got home a touch before midnight. One of the perks of being homeschoolers is being able to close out Disneyland on a weekday. 🙂
All in all, it was a success! I know I’m not ready to tackle Disneyland by myself with the girls (yet) – having Mr. M there makes everything semi-manageable. Believe it or not, this was Ellie’s second trip to Disneyland at just 3 months old. She went the first time at 2 months old! We have Annual Passes – so we’re getting our money’s worth. 🙂
This week has been really packed with Paprika’s trip to DWTS (which was amazing for her!) – and then we’ve had so much homeschool stuff happen, I have to write another post about to fill you in. It’s been a big week, and it’s only Thursday. 🙂
