Every morning (and afternoon, and night) – the girls are painting! It’s really Violet (3) who loves to paint the most. She is always asking me to get out the paints. I now have acrylic paints set up on the back porch for her to use whenever she wants – she can help herself. She gets her own paper and water and goes to town creating!
Violet’s Happy Sun:
And then at breakfast every day, the girls paint while I’m cooking! It works out great – a nice way to keep them off technology first thing in the morning. We talk, I cook, and they paint with watercolors. On this morning, I made Cinnamon Rolls – and while they were baking, the girls painted four different works of art!
In the interest of honesty, I am a MUCH bigger fan of watercolors at the kitchen table than I am acrylics in the backyard! Why? Because the acrylic poster paints get messy really quickly. Yesterday, we had a head-to-toe RED paint incident with Violet while I was cleaning up a mess Daisy Doodlebug made! It was a code-red, so messy incident that I didn’t even take a picture.
It kind of reminded me of this…do you remember this blog post of Paprika from back in the day?! (It happens to be one of my favorite blog posts of all time!)
Paprika (age 2!):
I was laughing then and I’m laughing now! 🙂
Even when it’s messy, it’s so good to get out the paints and have a creative time outdoors. It’s always ultimately worth the mess!
And do you know who loves to watch Violet paint more than anyone? Ellie (8 months), of course! She was feeling fussy and then I put her outside and let her watch Violet paint, and she was a happy camper! She just watched her big sister, and smiled and laughed.
As Bob Ross says, Every Day is a Good Day When You Paint! 🙂
