Ginger turned 6 years old on Thursday! I planned a big day for the girls – and even though we were bummed Mr. M had to work that day – we made it a very special birthday for her!
Before she woke up in the morning, we decorated the house for her. I got her special balloons that said “Happy 6th Birthday” – birthday plates, napkins, and a little banner. Even though all that stuff was just simple birthday stuff from the dollar aisle, it made a big impact!
And yes, that is Christmas wrapping paper on the presents. Waste not, want not. Haha! 🙂
I had her open one present before we set off on the day’s adventures:
And it was this birthday hat! It’s a silly little thing, but I wanted her to feel like the special birthday girl on her big day. 🙂
Then we went to Adventure City – which is an amusement park about an hour’s dive from us. I love it because it has a lot of rides perfect for the under 10 set and the crowds are few!
We rode the Carousel first thing:
The girls rode this balloon ride on their own (babies were not allowed, so I stayed on the ground with Ellie):
We rode the train around the park many times:
My train buddy, Violet:
The girls humored me taking selfies with our selfie stick. Haha:
There were goats, sheep, chickens, and a giant tortoise to pet. The girls loved them all:
The fire truck ride was Violet’s favorite. We rode this thing probably 25 times (not joking)!:
By late afternoon, all the day camps had left the park – so it was basically empty! Really! That was fantastic!
We decided to stay until close and had the whole park to ourselves. I let Paprika (8) and Ginger (6!) adventure off on their own rides while I stayed with Violet (3) and Ellie (4 months). The big girls loved having that freedom – and I felt safe because it’s a small, enclosed park and I had them check back in with me between rides. Violet LOVED having one on one time with me. She was eating up all the attention!
Violet rode the Carousel a dozen times in a row! It never got old…
Then we met back up and rode a bunch of rides together until the park closed! We were there about seven hours (10am – 5pm) – so I’d say we got our money’s worth. We were the last people to leave! Haha
Waiting for the train together:
Then we made the long trek home during rush hour traffic on the 405 freeway. Eeek! Ellie was very exhausted and cried the whole ride home – and I was trying to drive on a 16 lane freeway with a screaming baby in my ear. So stresful! Ay-yai-yai!
But we made it home, and we played outside drawing with chalk until their daddy got home from work. We wanted to wait until he got home to open up the presents. So, as soon as he got home, we dashed inside and opened up Ginger’s presents!
Then we baked a birthday cake and iced it together. Mr. M decorated the cake and I think it turned out pretty great!
Blowing out the candles for Big Six!
It was a full day, as you can tell! After cake, the girls played with the presents and then we read Harry Potter Goblet of Fire aloud until the girls fell asleep. What a day! A great one for the memory books!
Happy Sixth Birthday, Ginger! We love you so!!!!
