For the next four minutes, it’s still officially my birthday! We are back from a long day up in Santa Barbara. We drove up for the lovely birthday party of our friends’ son (he was turning 9 – last year of single digits!) I had no idea that we had the same birthday…what are the chances?!
The girls mostly behaved at the party. I say “mostly” because I DID end up doing the double Ergo when Ginger and Violet seemed on the verge of meltdown at the same exact time. It brought them back down to earth and they were happy as pie after an HOUR or so in the Ergos…with me in the sweltering heat carrying them up and down stairs five billion times.
I worked off my red velvet cake. That’s all I’m saying! 😉
I thought my Double-Ergo days were behind me – but apparently not! We didn’t get a picture of me today in the double Ergo get-up – but this was me way back when (five months ago):
Anyhoo – I wore a super cute dress to the party and was looking FAB – you know…for me. 😉
But after about 10 minutes, I had to go back to the van and change into my same old t-shirt dress and leggings (my current uniform). Why? Because…well…let’s just say that Violet was trying to rip the top of the dress to nurse and Ginger was crawling under my dress.
And then there was that double Ergo thing. Who wants to carry 80 pounds of Double Ergo in a fancy dress and heels? Not me!
So, after I got back into my mom uniform and sauntered around the party with two kids in Ergos, everything was peachy. The girls had a great time – it was a Cowboy and Native American themed party. The food was delicious – and the wine was even better. Hahaha.
I know this double Ergo phase will be gone just as quickly as it came – this season is so short. If anything, being so close to my girls all day was such a gift – such a beautiful birthday gift.
All in all, a fantastic birthday so far. 🙂 I am so grateful for another year of life. Thanks for all the wishes – they mean so much to me!
P.S. I am still without a phone (we got a new one but then it broke an hour after I got it). I feel positively untethered! I felt oddly free not having my phone with me at all today – and the past few days since Violet dunked it. The rice trick didn’t work for me. I’ll figure it out – but for now, this phone sabbatical is strangely nice – I feel like it’s 1995 all over again!
