On Friday, Violet (4) woke up with the grand idea to spend the day at the beach! One thing’s for sure: I have a very hard time saying no to Violet, especially when the things she wants are so reasonable and fun. She woke up and threw on her swimsuit. She was ready to go before anyone else even got out of bed!
Mr. M was working out of town – and I had been up ALL night with Baby Ellie, of course. 🙂 But what the hey – I decided to pack everyone up and go to the beach anyway! It ended up being a great choice.
Baby Ellie stayed in the Ergo the whole time. I debated getting a sister picture of all four girls – but then I remembered how that turned out last time I tried when a huge wave surprised us and carried them out to sea.
So, I decided to keep Ellie dry, sand-free, and happy. She was so excited just to hang out and watch everything snuggled up close to me:
Because it was a weekday, there was NO ONE at the beach.
This is a real picture – I didn’t crop anyone out or put a weird filter on it. We were literally the only people on the beach. Crazy, right?
Ginger (6) spent a lot of time dancing in and out of the waves. She loves the water:
Paprika flashing the “I Love You” sign – we do this about a billion times/day to each other:
Violet (4) drew lots of pictures in the sand. She said she was drawing our family – each heart is a person in our family:
Paprika and Ginger played happily in the sand, building their sandcastles and then watching the waves wash them away:
A note in the sand to me from Paprika (9):

I was so glad that I took the girls to the beach. Sometimes I get overwhelmed and think it’ll be too much for me to take all four girls by myself, but it turned out great. I just kept it simple, and we ended up having a magical day. I love that because of homeschooling, we have the freedom to do this while everyone else is in school. It’s a freedom I don’t take for granted!
I’m so glad Violet talked me into going to the beach! She has the best ideas, I swear… 🙂
Speaking of great ideas, when we got home from the beach, Violet really wanted to make homemade lemonade.
So, we did!
As you can see, our lemon tree has gone a little bananas. We have lemons for days…
Then, Violet set up a little lemonade stand in the backyard. I bought a glass of lemonade from her for $1.05. Why did I pay $1.05 for some lemonade that I helped make? Because, as I mentioned earlier, Violet pretty much owns my heart. Her wish is my command. Ah, to be four years old! Haha.
