We’ve had a great 4th of July week. With the holiday on Wednesday, it felt like the whole week was a celebration.
We spent a lot of this past weekend at the beach! I took Ginger on Saturday, and afterwards we finished our “date” at the Whole Foods bakery. Yum! They have little booths where you can sit and eat your treats – she had the lemon poppyseed muffin and a vegan chocolate donut. 🙂

We also hit the beach on Sunday. The weather was perfect for kite flying. 🙂
Paprika flew her kite the whole time, and let it go so high she ran out of string:
Paprika and I also went for our long neighborhood walks. I’m doing a little better with my SPD/pelvic issue, but I still need the mobility scooter for anything longer than really short distances.
On one of our walks, I decided to push myself a little and went about a block and a half. Huge mistake. It was unbelievably painful for two days after, and made me wonder if I’ll ever walk pain-free again. I don’t know! But I do love my scooter, and I’m really thankful to have it.
Ellie (3) is the cutest with her baby brother, Huck! She loves to give him kisses and hold his hand. She has matured so much in the short time since he was born. I am trying very hard to give her lots of attention and be overly sweet/accomodating to Ellie right now. It’s a big transition for her! She’s doing great with it – and I’m so proud of her.

Baby Huck is getting so chunky and he is the sweetest baby. He is so easy-going and alert. He only cries if he needs his diaper changed – that’s it! He really likes a clean diaper, though. He’ll wake up and cry if he wants it changed – and then as soon as a fresh one is on, he falls back asleep (usually mid-diaper change! Ha!)
He seems to know who everybody is already. For example, last week Evan put Huck on Ginger’s lap for her to hold him. Huck started crying and fussing, and then Huck glanced up at Ginger and a look of recognition came over his face. He stopped crying immediately. That made Ginger feel pretty good. 🙂
I’m just saying he’s awesome, that’s all! I know I am highly biased. Haha.
Evan took the day off work on Wednesday (July 4th) – he had the option to edit Bachelor in Paradise, but he took the day off to be home instead. Yay! We had a great day filled with food, fireworks, and of course, family/friends.
More about that later, though. It’s 2:30 am and I need to sleep because Baby Huck is soundly sleeping now! Goodnight. 🙂
