I’m trying something new today. I’m blogging from my phone for the first time ever (in over 12 years since I began this blog)!
As you can imagine, there’s a learning curve to taking care of five children, including a newborn, and homeschooling at the same time. 🙂 My days are very busy at the moment, making sure everyone feels loved and gets the attention they need.
I got a Baby Bjorn carrier because all my other carriers don’t seem to work the way this oldie does. I know there are a million wraps and slings now, but for these early newborn days, I really like the Bjorn for those times when I need my hands free. I’ll transition to the Lille Baby Carrier in a few months, once this Bjorn starts to hurt my back!
I’ve been trying to think of a good blog name for baby… Got any ideas? He’s our first boy baby. 🙂 I was thinking Huck, since I wanted to name him Huckleberry…(our last name is Finn)… But Evan veto’ed the idea. So maybe Huck is a good blog name!
He’s often wrapped in his big sisters’ pink blankets, but he doesn’t seem to mind. He is the happiest, most laid back baby. As long as he’s fed, held, and has a clean diaper, he’s content. He never cries unless his diaper is wet or he’s hungry, and as soon as you start to change or feed him, he stops! It’s amazing!
The girls have taken to their baby brother amazingly well. There is a lot of love in this house. I was worried about Ellie (3) because of her being the baby until now… But she’s been awesome. I’ve been giving her lots of extra attention, and she’s been such a helper to me.
Being goofy after bath yesterday:
Ginger and Violet love to sit and talk to the baby, read him books, and they are so in love with him.
Paprika swears she’s going to be his best friend. This is Paprika, last weekend at the park. Evan took the girls to the park so I could rest with baby. Bliss! 🙂
Ellie after a trip to Trader Joe’s. She loves the stickers.
My dad came all the from Indiana to watch the girls while I was in the hospital. We ended up staying at the hospital for only 24 hours (one night) because I was ready to get home! It was great having my dad here, and he gave the girls lots of quality attention (especially Ellie), which was so helpful to us all!
My dad with Ellie, Violet, and Ginger:
I’ve managed one “date” with the girls by myself postpartum. I took Violet and Ginger to the mall for Godiva chocolates. Violet was needing a bit of extra love and attention, and she kept asking to go to the mall… So I took her.
I started bleeding profusely and almost passed out at the mall. I thought I might die right there in the Pottery Barn Kids bathroom. (Seriously.) I guess there’s a reason you’re supposed to let your body heal after childbirth. You think I would have learned that after all this time!
Anyway, I’m okay. I made it home in one piece and have been taking it easy ever since.
Now that I’ve learned how to blog from my phone (one-handed!)… hopefully I can post more often. I have some good stories to tell. 🙂
Thank you for all the love and well-wishes surrounding our precious treasure. I feel the love and it means so much to our family. Thank you!!!!
