We have had the most amazing week! Every single day was filled with so many crazy and exciting things – I hardly know where to begin.
I am going to start with yesterday (Friday) and work backwards over a few posts that I’ll write in the next few days.
Yesterday, I took the girls to visit Mr. M at Dancing With The Stars! The producers asked us to come in because they were filming a fun segment for the show’s Season Finale, and they wanted to interview kids to see what they thought of the dancers and celebrities!
They wanted to film the segment over at the Grove, which is an outdoor shopping mall right next to CBS Television City. Mr. M came over with the producers and camera crew and met us there.
Me and the girls!
We got there a little early, and they were still setting up the cameras and sound equipment. So, we walked around for about an hour and saw all the sights. The whole place was decorated like a magical, winter wonderland…as much as it can feel like “winter” when it’s 80 degrees! Ha!
The Christmas tree was so tall, I couldn’t even fit it all in the picture.
The girls loved seeing Santa’s House! I asked them if they wanted to go inside to meet Santa. Ginger (age 6) said it wouldn’t be proper since it isn’t even Thanksgiving yet. She said we need to enjoy our holidays one at a time. 🙂
Paprika outside Santa’s House:
We still had a little time left before they wanted to film the girls, so we went to the American Girl Doll store. The girls were SO happy to play with the dolls and look at them, and they didn’t even ask to buy one thing. It was really sweet.
Oh, and I had to laugh at the memory of when I used to take Paprika here when she was a toddler. I told her that it was a Doll Museum and nothing was for sale. She still remembers that. Haha.
They loved this Christmas Tree inside the American Girl Doll store:
Then, it was time to start filming! Paprika (9) went first – she was so brave, and she answered every question they asked her clearly and with humor. Her big messages were to Stay Positive, and Keep Dancing. 🙂 She also talked about how much she looks up to Bindi Irwin…more about that in another post!
Paprika was really open and funny in front of the camera. I was so proud watching her shine! 🙂
Then it was Violet’s turn! All she wanted to do was giggle! Every question the interviewer asked her, she just laughed and laughed…
She was so cute, it was kind of hilarious:
Then, it was Ginger’s turn to go – but she is SO private and reserved, she said she just didn’t want to do it. She was too scared! I talked to her for a bit and she got up the courage to be interviewed. She wanted to do it with Violet, so basically Violet got interviewed again. It was a great choice. Violet was much more relaxed with Ginger by her side, and Ginger did great answering the questions confidently.
I didn’t get any pictures of the interview with Violet and Ginger together because I was standing behind the cameraman, smiling at them and letting them know I was there for them. I wish I had a picture, but sometimes being present and putting down the camera is more important.
After their interview, we went over to Dylan’s Candy Bar, which is a famous candy shoppe with every kind of candy you can imagine. We let them each get a bag of whatever they wanted! They were so sweet and only filled up their bags about 1/10th of the way full.
So, that was our big outing yesterday!
Here they are playing around with a few of the props. We gave them the judges’ numbers – and had them hold up each of their ages. You can’t tell but Ellie has the #1 (even though she isn’t 1 year old yet) next to her in the stroller.
Oh, and how did Ellie do through this whole trip?! Amazing!!! She was happy and along for the ride. I think the only way she’d have been happier would have been if they’d interviewed her. Ha!
Overall, I would rate the whole day a 10/10! 🙂 I’ll let you know if the package airs – or where you can watch it online when it’s up. I can’t wait to see it. 🙂
