Ah – Sunday. For everyone else, it’s the end of the weekend…and for us, it’s the start! Mr. M is busy working on Dancing With The Stars and because of how the show airs, he has to work on Saturday and Sunday – but he gets off work on Monday and Tuesday!
I am READY for the weekend this week! Ahhh- what a week!
So, if you’re following me on Facebook – you know that yesterday, this happened:
When I left the room for ONE minute to go help Ginger put her shoes on – Violet went into the office and drew all over the computer monitor with a big blue Sharpie!
Everyone told me to clean it off with hand sanitizer or isopropyl alcohol or a dry erase marker. Guess what? I have none of those things! Eventually I located some old jewelry cleaner in the back of the garage and dipped Q-Tips in it to get it off. It ended up being fine (after I had a major freak out about it). I know I always say: It’s always time for art! But not on my computer monitor! Ha!
While I was furiously cleaning Sharpie off the computer monitor – Violet came in the kitchen and made this mess. Obviously, I grabbed my cellphone and snapped a picture:
Now don’t go acting all surprised because this is literally an EVERY DAY ALL DAY thing with her. People wonder why I put all the chairs and step stools on the front porch every day – and this is why. No cabinet is safe from her!
Just this week, she taught herself how to pull the drawers out to make a little ladder on the lower cabinets. Good times! As you can see, she likes to throw things:
It was all pretty manageable, and then a week and a half ago, she decided to give up her ONE LAST nap! I know- some people have kids who nap until they are 5 years old. Not in this house! Paprika stopped napping at 18 months, and Ginger was about the same. I really REALLY tried to keep Violet napping as long as possible – but well, she decided she was DONE with that.
Except when I found her like this the other night three hours before bedtime! She really wore herself out – of course she doesn’t need to nap! 😉 Haha.
My Ginger (age 4) is so lovely – and so incredibly stubborn! I pray a lot for her future spouse…I do (seriously). She has taught herself to read. Alll the ways I wanted to teach her to read, she refused. But she is learning so well on her own and is reading me books (the Bob books) now at bedtime. We have them all (Ebay score!) – and she can read every one.
She still doesn’t want to wear clothes or shoes…and doesn’t want to sleep in her own bed. Like I said – she has an IRON WILL. But I think that’s a good thing, too. There is NO way she will EVER give in to peer pressure or bribes. She knows her mind.
This is when we went on a walk the other night just the two of us. She loves having one on one time – it’s pure bliss spending time with her by herself. I know she loves her sisters so much (that’s obvious). But she also loves having her parents all to herself. 😉
This is from one day when we went to the park. Ginger and Violet have become best friends – they are seriously soul mates, I think!
Violet is 100% joy – so that’s why I can’t get mad at her when she throws everything on the floor. Could you get mad at this face? She is so happy all the time – I wish I could bottle her energy.
Our new thing has been to make pizzas at home from scratch. Paprika will actually EAT them! After seven years of trying to get her to eat a slice of pizza, she will actually eat this. So, of course, we’ve made it three times this week! Ha!
It’s Fall at the beach now – so it’s practically empty! The other day Mr. M asked me to go to Target to pick up some things and I swung by the beach instead. I know a lot of moms think going to Target is their happy place – and well, I’ve been there, too. But nothing beats a sunset. NOTHING.
I did end up going to Target after I left the beach. While I was there, I bought a HUGE tub of Nutella. Because – Nutella is just about as good as any sunset. And well, I know I will need it the next time Violet draws on my computer with Sharpie!
Of course, the trick is keeping the Nutella out of Violet’s hands – do you remember when THIS happened? Ahhhh…memories! 🙂
