Violet (3) is obsessed with the little boy who lives next door to us. He is 2 years old. She stares out the front window, hoping to catch a glimpse of him. She doesn’t know his name, so she calls him: Handsome. Or, alternatively: My Handsome.
All she wants for her birthday is to go on a date with her Handsome. She wants to pick out her wedding dress, and talks about her wedding day and how many children they will have: 9 children plus a baby named Pearl Marina Shell.
Ginger (6) told Violet that she’s too young to go on a date with Handsome by herself. Violet cried and cried when she heard that. She says if she can’t go on a date alone with him, then she wants him to come to our house for tea and cake. And she said she might even try to kiss him!
Whenever we leave our house, Violet will roll down the van window and wave: Bye Handsome! And then she’ll turn to me and say: That’s the boy I’m gonna marry. 🙂
Ginger NEVER wants to get married. She wants to live in a little house behind ours, and have one child. If it’s a boy, his name will be Samurai (quite a name to live up to, dontchathink?) And if it’s a girl, she’ll be named Henry!
One afternoon earlier this week, Ginger and Violet spent the entire afternoon in front of this window waiting on Handsome and planning their futures. They got some blankets, read fairy tales (of course) – and had a pretend tea party to practice for Violet’s date with Her Handsome.
Life is so sweet with these two – I could just eat them up, one bite at a time!
