As you all know, Ginger (8) is obsessed with baking. It is one of her great joys – next to playing the piano and math. Anyhoo – her peronal heroine is Nancy Silverton, who started La Brea Bakery and now owns a few famous restaurants in Los Angeles (Mozza). Nancy Silverton was featured in the third season of Netflix’s Chef’s Table, which is how Ginger first found out about her – since Ginger loves Chef’s Table and Nancy Silverton’s episode is by far her favorite episode. I’ve watched it with Ginger a dozen times now! 🙂
So, it was a big deal for Ginger to go eat at La Brea Bakery this past weekend. Evan took Ginger for a “date” – and of course, Ginger let her little sister Violet (6) tag along. We recently found out that Ginger does NOT have celiac disease – so she was given the all clear by her doctor to eat bread. Can you tell how happy she was?
It was a bright, sunshiney day. 🙂
Evan also took the girls to an antique store next door to La Brea Bakery – and it was filled with all kinds of “heirlooms.” One was a ten inch black and white TV – and the girls were apparently in disbelief that it really was a television. They were like, “No, really…what was that thing?” Haha.
Ginger making some kind of lemon reduction sauce for one of her bakes. It was beyond good:
We still love going to Paprika’s old school playground when school is out for Spring Break and the weekend! Paprika and Evan shooting hoops together:
Ellie is always on the move!
Ginger’s braid – I love it when she lets me brush and braid her hair!
Evan teaching Violet and Ginger how to fix the vacuum cleaner (the belt on it broke). All these life skills really come in handy, you know?
A trip to the Bread Store. We go a few times/week, since they have the girls’ favorite quinoa bread there – but usually they only have like ONE loaf when we visit. I should really NOT take pictures when it’s SO sunny outside. I always think the pictures look so cute until I get home, and I’m like, everyone is PAIN and their eyes are half closed. Oops!
Even though the weather is 75 degrees and sunny, the girls LOVE going ice skating – well, Violet, Ginger, and Ellie love going. Paprika prefers to stay on dry land. 🙂 We have a rink not too far from our house – so that’s always a fun afternoon activity, especially on the weekends when Evan can come, too.
So, there are a few more snapshots. As you can see, we have been keeping busy and having lots of fun. 🙂 I have much more to say, but as usual…my time is up! Evan and Paprika just got home from seeing Ready Player One (after Paprika read the book, of course) – and I want to hear how it went!
