Today we had an “At Home Day” – We just stayed home! I was going to take the girls to gymnastics, since we have a few make-up classes from when the girls were sick. But, Ginger (6) really wanted to stay home – so that’s what we did!
We got sorted into Houses on the new Pottermore website (super fun!). Paprika got sorted into Gryffindor and was so sad because she wanted to be Hufflepuff, like she was on the old website. I used a different email address and let her register again. The next time, I coached her on her answers and she got Hufflepuff!
Then it was Ginger’s turn. On the old website, she was sorted into Slytherin. Ginger was hoping that on this new Pottermore site there’d be a house called: PandaFluff. But, there wasn’t such a house and she got sorted into Hufflepuff. She cried and said she wanted to be Slytherin. There were many tears between her and Paprika over the whole thing. Boo hoo! 🙂
Then, Violet wanted to be sorted and I said we’d had enough of Pottermore for one day. Too many expectations! Haha.
If I had to sort our houses, I’d say this:
Paprika (9) and Ellie (1) : Hufflepuff
Violet (4): Gryffindor
Mr. M: Ravenclaw
Ginger (6) and Me: Slytherin
I realize this makes no sense unless you’re a Harry Potter fan. So, moving on! 🙂
Ginger (6) and Violet (4) are always begging me to let them cook in the kitchen. Today, they wanted to make something called Surprise Pie. I let them, of course! 🙂
I suggested that they use a recipe, but they said: No, no, no. We have the recipe in our heads and it’s going to taste so good!
It was basically flour, water, eggs, and lots of sugar. We baked it at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.
And then they got to taste it when it was all done! They were horrified. Ha! Their creation didn’t taste the way they expected it to taste, so they agreed that maybe next time we’ll use a recipe. 🙂
They had a wonderful time baking together. These two can have fun doing anything. We made such good memories today in the kitchen together, making a mess and having a blast!
Paprika spent much of the afternoon reading books on the swing in the backyard. She read The Secret Garden, and also Nancy Drew (the original books). She would read a little bit, then swing a little bit…then repeat!
Once it got chilly, she came inside and did her math and other homeschool subjects. I am so grateful for relaxed days like these, when she can choose her own schedule and play outside to her heart’s content.
And last but not least, Miss Ellie Belly has had quite a rough time sleeping lately! She’s getting teeth or something. After she fell asleep late tonight, I got to watch my favorite show (Jane the Virgin). I stood holding her, and watched it on the laptop with the sound muted and the captions on. If I lay her down, she wakes up immediately…so what’s a mom to do? Stand and hold her.
What can I say? The view is good:
And then she woke up an hour later, and she’s still awake as I’m typing this (at 3:30 am). Needless to say, there will be caffeine in my near future, later this morning. Ha! 🙂
