Happy Friday! Here are a few snapshots from our week!
Ginger (6) made a “Time Capsule” – and wanted to bury it in the backyard.
I said: Oh my, you made a time castle!
She said: It’s not a time castle, mom. It’s a time capsule!
So, I said: So, why did you write Time Castle?
She got embarrassed and changed it (boo!) – I far prefer Time Castle. 🙂 So, of course, I took a picture before she crossed it out:
She put all her favorite treasures inside – her medals and piano trophy, her favorite joke book, her small stuffed animals, some of her baby items, etc.
When I explained to her that after we buried it, she wouldn’t see those things again, she got so upset she cried! That was the end of the discussion- no more burying the time capsule. She decided to keep it in her bedroom and that’s that. 🙂
Mr. M has been working long hours this week. Last night we were up late playing with Baby Ellie. I was taking a video while Ellie was grooving to some music. In the middle of her jam, she stopped and crawled over to her daddy, pulling herself into his arms like this! Such a lovebug!
Violet (4) has been my constant companion and playmate this week. Wherever I go, she’s right there. We have been spending all our time together – she wants me even over Sister Time! This was us yesterday in the backyard. We sat back to back on the swing (her favorite) and I pushed her high. She loved it!
Violet likes to dress me up. Yesterday, she put her tutu on my head so I could have long, bright red hair. Ellie (1) didn’t know what to think of that! Ha!
Violet took this picture with my phone:
Ellie hardly recognized me. She was probably thinking, “What’s up with that hair?!”
It’s rained a fair bit this week (El Nino) – but before that, the girls wanted to have a rain party in the backyard. I let them use the hose a little – they had so much fun with this little umbrella:
Ellie loves to sit in the grass and play with toys. She is so curious about everything, and she loves being outside. We’re so lucky to have (mostly) good weather lately:
Violet has been dressing up like a doctor, saying she and Ginger (6) will open up a Sister Doctor’s Office when they grow up. I took her to the Little Free Library earlier this week to pick out some books.
Paprika (9) also went to the Little Free Library (on her own) – and when she came back, she had a stack of books.
She came rushing home and exclaimed: Mom, I hit the jackpot!
I said: Which books did you borrow?
She said: The Collected Works of Charles Dickens, The Diary of Anne Frank, and Ella Enchanted.
I kind of laughed because I don’t know that I’d want to read Dickens! But, she is crazy about books and has spent many an afternoon happily reading away.
Violet (4) opted for lighter fare and picked out this Dora Book. She was so excited, she nearly burst:
I took Paprika on a date to Island’s again on Monday while the other girls were at gymnastics. Afterwards, we went on a long walk around our neighborhood and we talked about all things Nancy Drew. 🙂
She is a little obsessed with solving Nancy Drew mysteries at the moment. This was after we came home from our date. We parked in the driveway and took this picture to remember our special afternoon together:
I hope you have a great weekend!
