On Friday, we went to the Getty Art Museum in Brentwood. It’s one of my favorite art museums in LA – and not just because admission is free. 🙂 It’s so beautiful – I just like being there and soaking up the ambiance. Because we went on a weekday, it was practically empty…well, except for a few people – which, I’ll get to later.
It was a clear day, so we could see all the way up the coast to Malibu. Ahhh, I could’ve stood here all day:
We were in a rush to get out the door, so I didn’t pay much attention to Ellie’s outfit. Lesson learned! I put her in brown pants, and I had about a dozen people come up to me and congratulate me on finally having a baby boy! Haha. It was a little awkward when I explained (over and over again) that no, she is a girl. And yes, I’m just fine with having all girls. Ha!
Another funny thing that happened is that besides us, the museum pretty much only had Japanese tourists visiting on this day. Seriously – we were just about the only non-Japanese people there! Well, for some reason – a bunch of them wanted to take pictures with Paprika! I couldn’t figure it out. Does she look like somebody I don’t know???
Anyway, Paprika was very agreeable and took their pictures with them. And then once we got in the van to drive home, we all had a good laugh about it.
There was a beautiful tapestry collection from the collection of King Louis IVX. Paprika (9), Ginger (6), and Violet (4) brought sketch pads so they could draw pictures of the beautiful artwork they saw. I tried to snap a picture of Paprika sketching, but then a security guard came and told me to stop. No pictures please!
Ginger (6) is crazy about pandas, which I think I might have mentioned a few times. For her birthday, she really wants two pandas – a male and a female, so she can mate them! I can’t make this stuff up. She is so crazy about pandas. She says she’ll grow a bamboo forest in our backyard to feed them, and that she’ll build a treehouse in the backyard to live in so she can be near them at all times.
Me and Ginger:
The weather has been mightily agreeable here this past week. One of my favorite parts about the Getty in Brentwood are the amazing gardens. It was the perfect sunny, warm day to enjoy looking out at them. Ginger wanted to watch the ducks:
I think I could live here. Do you think they’d notice if I just brought my sleeping bag and moved in? Ha! 🙂
