Miss Violet is SIX now! 🙂 We wanted to make her birthday special, especially since she’s been talking about it for months. We gave her the option of doing anything on her birthday (within reason – ha!) – and she planned her day out just the way she wanted it.
We offered to take her to Disneyland, throw a party for her, etc. – but what she REALLY wanted was to spend the day with her Daddy by herself, like Paprika (11) did on her last birthday.
The night before Violet’s birthday, Ginger and I stayed up late and decorated the house with streamers, balloons, a birthday banner, and we wrapped presents for the birthday girl.
In the morning, (while Evan was at work) – Violet opened presents and played with her new toys. Evan planned to take off work for the second half of the day, so it worked out perfectly.
I took Violet’s sisters to Target a few days before Violet’s birthday to shop for gifts. Ginger (8) spent ALL of her savings on Violet’s birthday. She bought her this beautiful headband, as well as a Cabbage Patch Doll set that came with a doll, a cradle, a stroller, and some other baby care items. She really broke the bank (and even had to borrow money from Paprika in the checkout line because she did not account for tax).

When we were at Target, Ginger tried to convince Paprika to spend ALL of her money on Violet’s present, as well. Paprika is very frugal and sensible. She said that she had a budget in mind ($15) – and that she needed to save the rest of her money for college. Ha! Paprika ended up buying this purse that Violet could color and draw on – and Violet loved it!

In the afternoon, Evan came home and took Violet to the exact place she wanted to go: Mulligan’s! It’s a go-kart fun type place nearby. At first, Violet really wanted to go by herself with her dad (no siblings). But on second thought, she said it wouldn’t be half as much fun without Ginger there. So, she just took Ginger and I stayed home with Paprika (11) and Ellie (2). (They were both 100% fine with it.)
Go Kart racing:
Ginger and Violet really are best friends and soul mates. I’ve never known two people to love each other more deeply than these two – they are like two halves of the same whole. They never argue or hurt each other – they are genuinely kind and beautiful to one another.

Meanwhile…back at the ranch… All of the gifts I’d ordered on Amazon for Violet’s birthday were delivered while they were at Mulligan’s. Yay! We wrapped the presents and listened to Christmas music while we waited for them to come home.
They stayed until Mulligan’s closed – and then when they came home, Evan finished up the touches on the birthday cake he made with Ginger for Violet’s birthday. Evan is very serious about his birthday cakes – he makes one for every birthday, and I am not allowed to touch them! Haha. (They really do taste awesome).
Then, it was time to sing “Happy Birthday,” blow out the candles, and makes wishes. 🙂
Miss Violet, I hope you had a super wonderful birthday! (I know you did!) You make every single day joyful and sweet – and I am SO grateful I get the chance to be part of your life. You are everything, and everything is you. I love you! Love, Mom
