(Violet dressed herself, can you tell?! Ha!)
Violet’s birthday was Monday – but Mr. M had both Monday and Tuesday off work (his weekend) – so we decided to extend the birthday festivities to Tuesday! We took her to a fun place called Mulligan’s – they have go-kart racing, mini golf, arcade games…you know, stuff like that. It was actually my first time going there – because it’s always been Mr. M’s place to take the girls while I have downtime. Kind of like how he’s never been to Adventure City – that’s my place I like to take the girls. Anyhoo – I was excited to go to Mulligan’s for the very first time!
Mr. M took the big girls in the fast go-karts. He drove, and they rode passenger. Which was perfect because I was not ready to see them driving. 🙂
Since it was a Tuesday, we had the whole place to ourselves. It was as if they closed the place to everybody but us…seriously!
Ginger and Violet love this little ride – I swear, they love it as much as any ride at Disneyland. 🙂
We were laughing about this next picture because it looks like Ginger is having so much fun…but let’s just say that mini golf was a disaster. Violet (3…no, 4 years old!) ran out of steam at Hole 1. Then, Ginger (6) lost it. Ginger is just about the most sensitive, intense, perfectionistic soul you can imagine. She wanted to get a hole in one every single time. When that didn’t happen, she was so mad at herself! She left the course around Hole 3, sobbing.
Paprika is laid back, and she doesn’t care how many strokes it takes to get the ball in the hole. She was basically sweeping the ball in like she had a broom. There are two courses, and she was going back and forth between each one, totally out of order – depending on which part looked prettier. She actually had fun!
They love riding in the mini boats. Ginger had recovered enough from her let-down to drive the boat by herself. 🙂
At the arcade, I noticed that Ginger was still really overwhelmed, so I took her to “The Lounge” – which is basically the snack bar. We emptied out my purse for half an hour, which was for some reason REALLY fun to Ellie (9 months) and Ginger! Haha.
Then, I ordered some fries and a pretzel – and cups of ice water – and we ate in the little cafe. By that time, everyone else was ready for a snack – so we all shared the fries. Yum!
Everyone felt refreshed after that little sensory break – and we went back outside to drive the go-karts! The girls all got to drive their own go-karts on the Rookie Track, which was a big hit!
Ellie didn’t drive one, of course! Just give her a few years… 🙂
You have to be 4 years old to drive on the Rookie Track (and be able to reach the pedals)! Violet just squeaked in under the wire at 4 years, 1 day old!
She had the best time driving – and since we were the ONLY people in the whole place, they let the girls drive and drive and drive. By the end, Mr. M and I were looking at each other like…”How long are they going to let them drive?! They must be just about out of gas.” Ha!
So, that was Violet’s 4th Birthday, Part 2! She had a GREAT birthday – she keeps telling us so, anyway! I still can’t believe she’s 4 years old. She is pure magic!
