Oh My Goodness – What a week! I feel like we’ve lived a lifetime. It’s been a week of extremes. Our landscaping guys have been coming all day, pretty much every day so during the day we’ve had to stay home, indoors. I need to be home when the landscaping guys are here because they have lots of questions and I need to be here in case they need something…which they often do! This means that we are pretty much stuck inside every day until they leave at around 5 or 6!
When the guys are here, we do all our school work inside. I think we’ve done more math, writing, art, science, reading, piano, and Spanish this week than ever! Haha.
Then once they leave, I pile everyone in the car and we go somewhere – anywhere – because by that time the girls are literally climbing the walls! Actually, Violet climbs to the top of the king headboard and stage dives off the top. They need to run and be FREE!
We visited Paprika’s old elementary school playground twice last weekend. The girls love the playground and during the week, we can’t really go there because…well, school is in session. Awkward! 😉
So, the weekend it is! I found the box with the American Girl dolls – and they were so excited! The dolls haven’t left their sides since!
They have been playing until dark, which isn’t saying a whole lot since we’re getting such a late start and the sun goes down early now!
Ginger has been practicing her gymnastics moves and did the monkey bars about a gazillion times…
She was so excited every time she made it all the way across:
So, this is the backyard progress. Where we once had a jungle, now we have some flat dirt! Progress?! I hope so…
Every day we get a little closer, and every day, I get my hopes up that we’re almost done! Haha!
At this point, I can’t let the girls out in the yard AT ALL – it’s a construction mess in the backyard! There are nails and rusty things and open trenches…
And it’s not just the backyard, but it’s also the side yard and the front yard! Basically, if the girls aren’t indoors, then we are making a beeline to the van with our shoes ON! 🙂
So, we’ve made lots of evening trips to the library (since it is open in the evenings, we can get a few hours in after sundown). This was earlier tonight – we bolted out of the house when the landscapers left – and you can see I was not at all concerned with fashion! Haha. Everyone was fully clothed and not wearing pajamas, so I figured we were good!
The girls had a great time reading books and looking through the stacks. About two minutes after I took this picture, Violet (2) triggered the alarm by opening the emergency exit and we almost go kicked out of the library! Never a dull moment, I tell ya!
In addition to the Library, we’re also regulars at Barnes and Noble. It’s our favorite place for a sweet treat and for making new friends in the kids’ section…
And reading LOTS and…
LOTS of books! 🙂
The one day the landscapers weren’t here this week, we snuck in a trip to the Pumpkin Patch! I am going to do a whole post about it soon because the girls had a blast and learned so much – it’s a working farm and these city girls got an education! And of course, I took A LOT of pictures. Here are a few:
Ginger loved petting this baby goat! There was a lot of dust and dirt in the petting zoo area – but hey…with our little backyard makeover, we’re used to that! Ha!
We stayed until closing and the girls had a great time getting out lots of energy! They raced these tricycles about a gazillion times…
So, those are the highlights in our little week that was! Hope you have a wonderful weekend! I have a feeling I’ll be watching guys dig up my backyard and trying to keep the children from doing backflips off the couch. 😉
