It has been raining this week! I guess they’re calling it “Miracle May” because we have had so much rain – and in case you hadn’t heard, Southern California is in a VERY serious drought. We have a lot of water restrictions right now – and in general, the water crisis is a huge deal here. You can get majorly fined for even watering your lawn!
So – we’ve been enjoying the rain and learning to dance in it! 🙂
Ginger started piano lessons two weeks ago! Paprika had a few make-ups, so we decided to use those for Ginger (5) to see if she’s ready for piano lessons. And oh my goodness, is she ever! She LOVES piano and wants to practice all the time. Her joy for piano is contagious!
Ginger is a very hard worker, and she learns things very easily (as long as she is the one who is directing the learning)! She has been practicing up a storm, and looks forward to her lesson all week. So, guess who is going to start taking piano lessons for real this summer?! 🙂
Ginger and Paprika (8) are splitting the piano lesson hour now – and then in the Summer/Fall, they will each get their own times. Thankfully, Ginger loves Paprika’s piano teacher and wants to do a good job for him. It’s amazing how driven Ginger is when she makes up her mind about something she wants to do. She is unstoppable! She is also unstoppable when she makes up her mind about something she doesn’t want to do… Haha 🙂
Anyway, it’s a good character quality to be driven and hard-working, and hopefully it will be helpful to Ginger as she grows.
Ginger at her lesson with her teacher:
My mom caught a cold on the airplane on the way to visit us, and unfortunately, she passed it on to Ginger! Ugh! I have been trying so hard to keep illness away because of baby Ellie – but what can you do? We are washing hands a lot, and I have been keeping Ginger and Ellie as separate as you can in one house. Ginger is miserable, and has been a trooper as she fights off the bug.
I have been getting lots of cards from the girls lately. These are a few they made for me recently (on Mother’s Day):
From Ginger, (age 5):
Another from Ginger:
Paprika mailed me this card when we went on our Homeschool Field Trip to the Post Office. I got it the day before Mother’s Day in our mailbox! 🙂
Even though we’ve seen so much rain this week – we have also had our fair share of sunshine. I peeked out my window into the backyard yesterday and saw this sweet scene. Be still my heart! 🙂
