We went to the beach yesterday! I had been feeling cooped up, and was craving the smell of that fresh ocean air. It was good for the soul, and left me feeling refreshed and ready to enjoy the week ahead. 🙂 Whenever I’m feeling overwhelmed, a little outdoor time in the sunshine usually does the trick!
In case you missed the past few posts, I’ve been catching up on our Winter Break. We did A LOT, and I feel like I’m just skimming the surface…but here goes!
The last few posts are here:
We went back to Harry Potter World at Universal Studios! As you might remember, we went to visit on the last day Violet was six years old (the day before her birthday) as a surprise. Here is that post.

Our tickets were buy-one, get the second day free – so we decided to go free right over Christmas Break, before they expired. It was every bit as magical, and even a bit better than the first visit, because we knew our way around the park and how to avoid lines, crowds, etc.
The trip to Harry Potter World was great because we are reading all the Harry Potter books aloud (again) as a family. We finished The Goblet of Fire (Book 4) on Christmas Break – so we all watched the movie together as a family the night after we finished the book.
On Christmas Night, we all watched the original Mary Poppins movie together. It was magical seeing the movie through the girls’ eyes as they watched it for the first time. We have been singing the songs ever since!
It wasn’t Paprika’s first time seeing Mary Poppins, of course! She went to the Broadway show, NINE years ago! She still remembers it quite well. Here’s that post about it, in case you want to walk down memory lane and see a three year old Paprika. 🙂
Speaking of movies, Paprika went to see Bumblebee with a friend. I dropped her off at the movie theater. She felt pretty grown-up!
Then, this past weekend, I took her to see the new Spiderman movie, Into The Spiderverse.
Getting ready to see the movie. She always likes to dress festively! 🙂
Paprika has read all the Miles Morales comic books – and so she was really excited to see the movie, which is based on those comics. The movie did not disappoint!
Paprika and me at the theater. I used “Night Vision” on my cell phone camera, which is why this picture looks sort of strange. LOL. This was taken in a dark theater, without the flash:
Ellie (age 3) is so much fun, so bright, and adorable. I feel like we are getting past her “threenager” phase. She is so smart, and keeps me on my toes. I need to do a post all about her soon. She is growing up and changing so much each day.
Wasn’t it just yesterday she was born? How I love and adore her!
We’ve gone on a few trips to the park. The parks are empty this time of year!

Ginger at the park:
In other news, Miss Violet (7) has decided that it’s more fun to go rock climbing than stay home with me, so now she’s tagging along with Evan and Ginger (9) on their rock climbing dates! Ha!
And, I know this is terribly exciting – we got a new swing for the backyard! Our old swing broke while Ginger was on it (she is fine) – so we got a replacement. The pink one cost 1/2 of what a new blue one would cost, thanks to the weird pricing on Amazon. So, a pink swing it is! The girls got right to work breaking it in!
What else is new?
Huck is now 7 months old, and I’m reading The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn to him.
Long story – but I have never read it all the way through, despite being a Comparative Literature major in college! Ack! Since I have named him after the titular character (our last name is Finn, so he really is Huckleberry Finn!) – I figured I should read the book cover to cover. I am borrowing a copy from the library while I read seventy-billion other books simultaneously. I’m on a reading kick, and loving it. More on that another time.
My Huck Finn:
I hope you have a great week! I’ll be back on Monday night/Tuesday morning, if not before then, with another post. We have a big week ahead, so I’ll have lots of fun stuff to share. Be well, friends!
